Working with the owner/developer Menkes and their architect Adamson Associates, every aspect of the architecture was reexamined, redesigned and represented. Everything from the parking lot to the new green roof was transformed into a clear victory for the developer and tenant alike. At the ground floor, Sweeny&Co created a fully contiguous 30’-0” clear height; no longer residual retail space but a massive opportunity for TELUS to engage the public, leaving no doubt that 25 York is the TELUS Tower. Retail grew into a significant communications opportunity. The TELUS Hosting and Innovation Centres became integral, informing the public spaces and architecture.
The net result? The landlord leased the whole ground floor and TELUS created a world-class centre.
TELUS wanted to maximize the potential value of consolidating more than 2,000 employees in an all-new building. They found an opportunity for a real and strong alignment between their motto “the future is friendly”™ and Sweeny&Co’s design philosophy. Together we identified 25 York as the most desirable site.
