Scarborough Town Centre Block 2
Sweeny&Co Architects Inc. has designed Scarborough Town Centre Block 2, a 2 tower project located on the west side of McCowan Road in eastern Toronto. The proposed design consists of two mixed-use towers connected by a shared podium, and features ground-floor retail and a new entrance for the future Scarborough Centre subway station along McCowan Road. The podium will vary in height between four and six storeys and will include a two-storey amenity feature on the fifth floor over the plaza of the new subway station. The towers will stand 51 and 53 storeys, respectively, and have a combined total of 1,078 residential units with floor-plates of 750m² each. The design includes six levels of parking, with a total of 235 parking spaces and 834 bicycle spots. The proposal is intended to complement the coming Scarborough Centre station as part of the Scarborough Subway Extension. The towers are part of a larger plan to develop Scarborough Town Centre's surrounding area, creating a transit-oriented community with 21 blocks of mixed-use buildings.
