Accounting Assistant

We are seeking a full-time Accounting Assistant to join our Finance team with experience in bookkeeping and a passion to work in the architecture and development industry. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and a sense of urgency when completing tasks. Ideally, you also have experience in accounting, commercial mortgage financing, proformas and forecasting.

You will be joining our team of close to 60 staff at 134 Peter Street, Toronto, Ontario, a building designed by the firm. We work as a team in a collaborative atmosphere that focuses on the creation of economically smart design solutions that promote sustainability, environmental consciousness, urban design, and design excellence.

Responsibilities:

- Performs full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable including subledger reconciliations

- Reconciling invoices and identifying discrepancies

- Creating and updating expense reports

- Analyze Internal Rate of Return, Return on Equity & Cost Forecasting

- Maintaining and improving organization’s bookkeeping process

- Tracking expenses and evaluating budgets

- Handling communication between the organizations and clients

- Create and manage a systematic filing system

- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- University degree or College diploma in Accounting

- Minimum 2 years of financial accounting experience

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications

- Well versed in Microsoft Excel mandatory

- Experience with Deltek Ajera or similar accounting software

- Experience with preparing Real Estate Proformas and Commercial Mortgage Financing is an asset

- Strong analytical, financial, and mathematical abilities

- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

- Extremely trustworthy and professionally minded

- Strong business and written communication skills

- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

- Ability to work together with others – a team player

- Fluent in spoken and written English
